The key to life is getting rid of the shit that you don’t need.

Minimalism, simplifying, being able to explain your strategy on the back of a napkin, tuning out the noise—we’ve all heard these ideas, but very few of us actually put them into practice.

In the first episode of season three of The Bear, there’s a flashback of Carmy in training that perfectly captures this concept.

The head chef looks at Carmy, takes a moment, and then quickly writes something on a piece of tape. In a steady, firm voice, he says, "This is how you improve."He presses the tape onto the table.

The camera shifts to reveal one word:

When traders first start out, they think they need to learn everything and trade anything. But that’s the exact opposite of what you should do. The goal is to find something you enjoy, something you’re passionate about, and a strategy you understand inside and out.
