Always keep gold in your pocket.
Gold bugs drilled this idea into me early, and they weren’t wrong. You don’t need to believe the world is ending or that the system is crumbling.
You just need to be prepared. Always. Prepared to protect your loved ones, to adapt, to make decisions when the unexpected happens.
This week, I’m in Colorado with my family. Skiing with our kid. Honestly, I don’t think we’ll need to bribe any guards on this trip but, yeah, I’m ready for it.
Here’s the thing: when you’re literally sleeping on top of a mountain, you start to think differently. Mountains and oceans, they’re the two most unstoppable, uncontrollable forces on Earth.
And that’s the lesson.
When traders shout, “This can’t happen!” or, “That’ll crash any day now,” they’re trying to control the uncontrollable. But let me tell you something:
You can’t tell a mountain what to do.
You can’t tell the ocean what to do.
And you damn sure can’t tell the market what to do.
But here’s the good news: you don’t need to control the market to make money. Trading isn’t about being right, it’s about managing probabilities and acting on the signals.
That’s why we build systems. That’s why we ride the waves instead of fighting them.
