My uncle was a much longer term trader than I am. Funny thing is, most of you probably think I’m a long term trader—my average hold time across both portfolios is about 4 to 6 months.

But my uncle?

He played the full cycle. His average hold time? Over Five years.

See the difference?

Back in ’99, he told me tech was about to take a nap and started loading up on gold miners, micro caps, and commodities.

Sounded insane at the time—he’d been holding most of his tech stocks since the early ’90s.

But to him, it made perfect sense.

I’ll never forget the way he timed his trades or how he understood the game. I did not understand every lesson at that time. Now I do…

He didn’t marry his trades stocks, commodities, or bonds—he just wanted to make money.

And that’s gotta be your number one goal as a trader.
